Do you send your children to a private school or a religious school, hoping that they are protected from the "Safe schools" program? Now, the right of private and religious schools to uphold their values is also under threat.
During last year’s marriage plebiscite, we warned that there would be widespread consequences from changing the definition of marriage. And only months later, we are already seeing the same-sex activists re-energised to push for the next stage of their plan.
In their words, they are pushing for the removal of so-called “discrimination” against LGBT people. But what this actually means is that religious groups are coming under increasing attack for their belief in traditional man-woman marriage.
Right now, it’s faith-based schools that are under fire. But churches are likely to be next in the firing line.
The current argument of the same-sex activists is very emotive – they claim LGBT kids are in danger of being expelled from schools because of their sexuality.
In reality, this is simply not the case. Most Christian schools are places where diversity is welcomed, but where a clear ethos and code of behaviour is expected. This is the reason many parents choose such schools for their children.
But there’s also something more sinister to this plan. Because at the same time, the activists want to force Christian schools to hire staff who don’t live according to the school’s ethos.
Let’s be honest, if our independent schools cannot choose who they can hire and fire, they are no longer independent. In this scenario, how long before they would also be forced to also teach radical gender theory?
This is a very serious attack on both parental rights and religious freedom – and it is made even more serious because it’s being backed by the federal Labor Party.
If they are successful, it would only be a matter of time before other Labor-run states followed their lead.
我们可以做什么？ What can be done about this?
Firstly, we need to urgently spread this information to as many people as possible. Here’s a link that you can use to share a blog version of this email with your friends and family:
Secondly, we need to prepare to take action.
The Federal Government has said it will release its response to the Ruddock report into religious freedom this year. When this happens, we expect same-sex activists, backed by parts of the media and the Labor Party, to increase their attack on faith-based schools and potentially other faith-based organisations.
This is when we need as many like-minded Australians as possible to raise their voice to defend parental rights and religious freedom.
By all working together, we can make a positive difference – but we need to get ready NOW!
As we already requested, please share this information with as many of your family and friends as possible using this link:
Thank you for supporting parental rights and religious freedom!
