The campaign to defend marriage is now more than halfway through – and what a roller coaster ride it has been for us at ACF!
Some weeks ago, our co-founder, Dr Pansy Lai, bravely appeared in a television advert warning that if same-sex marriage becomes law in Australia, gay sex education programs like “Safe Schools” could become compulsory and parents could lose the right to decide what their children are taught.
The response of thousands of “Yes” supporters was to threaten and intimidate Dr Lai. A petition was launched to have her doctor’s registration cancelled, and she received numerous threats to her safety.
All of this from the side of the campaign claiming they are all about “love” and “tolerance”, and that redefining marriage has no consequences.
In case you missed it, you can watch the ad here:
Despite the intimidation, Dr Lai is one of many people who have worked tirelessly over the past few weeks to defend our freedoms and rights, and we thank everyone who has helped with the “No” campaign in many different ways.
But this is a very, very long campaign – in fact, there is still a whole month to go before the ABS closes the ballot box on 7 November!
We need financial support to keep advertising on TV and in newspapers, and to provide resources for those working in the field.
Basically, we need to ensure every Australian understands the serious consequences of redefining marriage.
And on that note, we have some great news to share with you!
A generous benefactor has promised to double every donation our partner organisation Marriage Alliance receives over the course of a week. And all donations to the campaign via ACF will automatically be doubled as part of this offer – but only until Monday evening.
That’s right, your donation to ACF today or during the weekend will have twice the impact!
A donation of $50 will become $100, a donation of $100 will become $200, and so on.
Thank you for being a part of history here in Australia, against the global push to redefine marriage, gender and family.
Now that Australians are realising the far-reaching consequences of redefining one of our key social institutions, the “No” campaign has gained a lot of momentum.
Over 40% of Australians are yet to vote – so we have a huge opportunity to make a big impact right now!
